Fire Inspections
Pitt Meadows Airport Society and Pitt Meadows Fire and Rescue Service have agreed to a self-inspection process for all general aviation hangar owners.
Self-inspections are required to be submitted annually by May 31st. Complete online or download a hard copy using the links below.

AIRSIDE VEHICLE OPERATORS PERMIT
Airside Access – AVOP & AVOP-D Requirements
All individuals driving airside at Pitt Meadows Airport must hold a valid AVOP or AVOP-D card. Please review the following information and submission requirements carefully.
Application & Submission Requirements
To apply, please submit the appropriate documentation along with a current photo (no glasses or hats). YPK Administration will contact you when your card is ready for pickup and payment.
Payment can be made online or in person at the time of pick-up. Please note: For security reasons, AVOP Gate Cards cannot be mailed.
Card Types & Fees
AVOP Card - NEW Applicants Only
Required for all individuals operating vehicles on the airside areas (restricted zones) of an airport
All new applicants must complete the ID Application Form and take the AVOP Exam
Submit a current photo by attaching it to your ID Application Form or by emailing it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca
Exams are randomly generated to reflect current regulations and maintain safety awareness
Valid for 5 years
Fee: $50 + GST (total $52.50)
How to Apply for Your AVOP Card:
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “ID Application.”
Complete all required fields, including your license plate number/type of vehicle, driver’s license, and upload a clear, close-up photo of yourself.
If you experience trouble uploading your photo, please email it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca.
Once you have completed and signed your ID Application Form, you will receive a link to “Proceed to Exam.” Click this link.
At the top of the exam page, you will see: “Welcome, (Your Name)” followed by a number in brackets (e.g., (4321)). This number is your AVOP ID number. You will need this number for taking, re-taking, and renewing your AVOP Gate Card.
In a new tab, download the “AVOP Exam Information” and review it carefully.
When ready, return to the exam page and begin the AVOP Exam.
To start the exam, enter your last name and AVOP ID number.
Once complete, you will immediately receive your exam results:
If you pass: Your information and results will automatically populate in our system. We will contact you once your card is ready for pick-up.
If you do not pass: You may retake the test using the same AVOP ID number. You do not need to complete another application, and you may attempt the exam as many times as needed until you pass.
Note for New Applicants:
As part of Pitt Meadows Regional Airport’s security policy, all new AVOP Gate Card requests must be supported by a confirmation email from a valid Pitt Meadows Airport AVOP leaseholder, aircraft owner, or employer. This confirmation must verify your need for an AVOP Gate Card and specify the gate(s) you require access to.Please forward this requirement to the applicable party. Confirmation and approval should be sent directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca
AVOP Renewals
All renewing applicants must select ‘renewal’ on the ID Application Form and re-take the AVOP Exam

How to Renew Your AVOP or AVOP-D Card:
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “ID Application.”
Under Permit Type, select “Renewal” and the type of card you wish to renew — please do not fill out a new application form.
Complete all required fields, including your license plate number/type of vehicle, driver’s license, and upload a current, close-up photo of yourself. If you have trouble uploading your photo, email it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca.
Once you have completed and signed your ID Application Form, you will receive a link to “Proceed to Exam.” Click on this link.

Note for Renewing Applicants:
Only the access privileges currently approved on your existing AVOP card will be transferred to your renewed card. If you require additional apron access, a confirmation request is required from a current YPK-affiliated party, such as a leaseholder, employer, or flight school.Please forward this requirement to the applicable party. AVOP-D Cards
Required for individuals who need to operate vehicles on the airside areas (restricted zones) of an airport, including driving across taxiways and runways under certain conditions.
All applicants (new and renewing) must complete the ID Application Form and take the AVOP Exam. Select new or renew (Use current AVOP number for renewals)
Submit a current photo by attaching it to your ID Application Form or by emailing it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca
Exams are randomly generated to reflect current regulations and maintain safety awareness
Upon successful completion of the AVOP exam, YPK Administration will email you an additional AVOP-D Application Form for review by airport management. If your application is approved, YPK Administration will contact you to schedule a radio communication driving test
Valid for 5 years. Includes gate card and radio communication driving test. To renew an AVOP-D, applicants must retake both the AVOP exam and the driving test
Fee: $100 + GST (total $105)
Important: The issuance of AVOP-D cards is at the sole discretion of Pitt Meadows Airport. Approval is not guaranteed.
Terminal Only Card
Required for airside access without vehicle privileges
Intended for leaseholders with units inside terminal building
Complete the ID Application Form and await approval. No exam is required
Submit a current photo by attaching it to your ID Application Form or by emailing it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca
Valid for 5 years
Fee: $20 + GST (total $21)
Photo ID
Required for airside access without vehicle privileges
Intended for flight school students, contractors, and long-term visitors
Complete the ID Application Form and await approval. No exam is required
Submit a current photo by attaching it to your ID Application Form or by emailing it directly to cnicolle@flyypk.ca
Valid for 2 years
Fee: $10 + GST (total $10.50)
