UPDATED: Key Instructions for Pilots Using AOE/15
Pitt Meadows Regional Airport – May 2025 Update
(This version includes updated guidance regarding floatplanes and helicopters requiring CBSA clearance.)
As part of the AOE/15 designation at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport, pilots must adhere to the following mandatory Telephone Reporting for General Aviation process, as outlined by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA):
Pre-Arrival Notification
Pilots must contact the Telephone Reporting Centre (TRC) at 1-888-226-7277 to provide advance notice of arrival and traveller details.
Notification must be made no less than 2 hours and no more than 48 hours prior to arrival in Canada.
If the toll-free number is unavailable, call 905-679-2073 (long-distance charges may apply).
Information to Provide
Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA), aircraft registration, and Canadian landing site.
For each person on board: name, DOB, citizenship, travel documents, purpose of travel, and duration of stay.
Declaration of goods (e.g., food, plants, firearms, currency over CAN$10,000).
Any changes to ETA or traveller information must be reported before landing.
On Arrival
Aircraft must taxi into one of the four designated parking positions within the white box directly in front of the terminal.
Once parked, the pilot must call the TRC (1-888-226-7277) to report arrival and await further instructions.
No one on board may disembark until CBSA grants clearance.
Customs Clearance
Aircraft must arrive during CBSA business hours, unless alternative arrangements have been made with the local CBSA office.
Landings outside business hours may incur cost-recovery fees.
Emergency Landings
In the event of weather diversions or emergencies, pilots must contact the TRC, the nearest CBSA office, or the RCMP immediately after landing.
Pilot's Responsibility
Ensure all travel documents are valid for each person on board.
Pilots are responsible for inadmissible travellers and associated repatriation or removal costs.
NEW – Amphibious and Floatplane Arrivals
Please note that the AOE/15 designation does not extend to the floatplane dock or adjacent ramp area, and as such, CBSA clearance cannot be provided at those locations.
However, if a floatplane is amphibious or the pilot has arranged for the aircraft to be beached or towed to the designated white box area in front of the terminal, and no one exits the aircraft during the transfer, CBSA will entertain clearance at that location.
It is the pilot’s responsibility to ensure this movement can be completed safely, without disembarkation, and to communicate the plan to CBSA in advance.
NEW – Helicopter Clearance Procedures
Helicopters requiring CBSA inspection must land on the designated helipad at Pitt Meadows Regional Airport. The white box in front of the terminal is not to be used for helicopter arrivals under any circumstances.
CBSA officers will proceed to the helipad to conduct clearance as required.
Pilots should notify CBSA in advance to ensure officers are aware of the arrival and can make necessary arrangements.
